COMPTON HIGH SCHOOL ALUMNI ASSOCIATION

"REACHING BACK TO MOVE FORWARD"

A L M A   M A T E R
All hail to thee dear Compton High
Our Alma Mater true.
May all thy sons where’er they be
Give thee all honor due.
The years may come, the years may go
But still we’ll loyal be
And when our high school days are o’er
Be faithful unto thee!
May peace abide within thy halls
And knowledge reign supreme.
Let pride and good and brotherhood
Be ever more thy theme.
And when our paths from Compton High
Stretch endless as the sea
We pledge ourselves each day to strive
For truth and dignity!

GIVING BACK

The CHSAA's slogan is "Reaching Back to Move Forward", which, means to "give back" to our alma mater, being a positive influence on the students as they move forward to being productive citizens. One way to do this is to give back by donating to the CHSAA, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization.

Your tax-deductible donations will go toward fulfilling the CHSAA’s mission, and will be divided as follows:

50%: Scholarships
30%: Other school/student needs
20%: Association administration

ALL are invited to donate. We, the students and staff at Compton High School appreciate your support!

MAILING LIST

Occasionally, messages will be sent to youdirectly from this website. To ensure that you receive all information, please fill out the form on theMailing List page.

WANTED: YEARBOOKS

The CHSAA is establishing its own collection of yearbooks..
Please contact Deborah Spottsville '73 if you have a yearbook to donate. So far, the following yearbooks have been received and will be donated to the Compton High 's Frank L. Walton Library:

SPECTRUM
1926, 1927, 1930

DAR-U-GAR

1932, 1933, 1934, 1935, 1936, 1937, 1939, 1940, 1941, 1944, 1945, 1946, 1947, 1948, 1950, 1952, 1953, 1955

EL COMPANILE

1955, 1957, 1959, 1964, 1968, 1969, 1971, 1972, 1973

Note: One of the more frequently asked questions is about obtaining copies of yearbooks. At this time, there is no way to copy a yearbook. The cost of doing so is very prohibitive.

A LITTLE BIT OF HISTORY

How much (or how little) do you know about our alma mater's history? What about the evolving of the Tartar/Tartar Baby/Tarbabe? Who is the oldest known living alumnus? Can you fill in the blanks? Check this out! Note: the name Tarbabe was not based on being a baby Tartar! See the Blog entry "Tarbabe Nickname": An Alternative View.

If the info is not correct, let the
Web Manager know.

CALL FOR CLASS LEADERS

The CHSAA is looking for class leaders to spread the word about what the CHSAA is doing to their classemates. In most cases, it will probably be the class reunion organizers, because they are the one with the class databases. If you are interested, please provide the
Web Manager with your contact information.
